Регистрационные знаки транспортных средств на Кипре сегодня состоят из трех букв и трех цифр.

На Кипре используется простая система нумерации — числа варьируются от 001 до 999 для каждой буквенной последовательности.

Например, номерной знак, который будет выдан после MAA 999, будет MAB 001.

Однако, владельцам транспортных средств, получающим новые номера на Кипре, может быть разрешено выбрать цифры из доступных номеров в существующей на момент регистрации автомобиля буквенной последовательности.

Номера, изготовленные до этой даты, имеют белый цвет для передней пластины и желтый для задней пластины, тогда как новые автомобильные номерные знаки Кипра после 2013 года стали белого цвета как для передней, так и для задней пластины.

На острове очень развита услуга аренды авто. Много мелких и крупных прокатных фирм прямо в курортных зонах, в деревушках и в городах.

Все такие автомобили имеют красные номера, чтобы сразу было видно машины с туристом за рулем.

В основном, все прокатные машины — это малолитражки класса «А». Иногда, минивэны и кабриолеты.

На всех гражданских машинах на Кипре передние номера имеют белый фон, а задние — желтый.

Несколько раз на глаза попалась местная полиция. Что удивительно, они все были на японских внедорожниках.
Паджеро и Патрол. И у них номера стандартные, как у всех гражданских авто: спереди белый, а сзади желтый.

А один раз даже заметил «выписывание штрафа» или типа того:

Иногда могут попасться синие номера ООН, так как рядом оккупированная Турцией территория и граница, которую контролирует ООН.

Всю поездку думал, что обозначают белые номера с красной рамкой и с красным шрифтом?
Оказывается, такие номера выдаются новым автомобилям, которые были купены только что, а нормальный стандартный номер еще не получен в ГИБДД.

Грубо говоря, это как транзитные номера. Видимо, их вешают сразу в автосалоне.
Осталось выяснить, что обозначает сама надпись на номере )

На Кипре в курортной зоне очень много такси-лимузинов марки Мерседес различных моделей и г.в.
И у них даже передний номер желтый, а не белый.

The vehicle registration plates of Cyprus are composed of three letters and three digits (e.g. ABC 123). However, registrants may be allowed to choose a number from available numbers in the extant letter sequence.

The dimensions of Cyprus plates were similar to their British counterparts, and until 2004, characters were printed in black and in the same typeface as used on British plates. Plates from 2004 onwards are made of metal; between 1973 and 2004, they were made of plastic.

A new law on vehicle registration plates came into force on 3 June 2013, altering the design. Plates made before that date are white on the front of the vehicle and yellow on the rear, whereas new plates are white both on the front and the rear and, in addition, carry the month and year the vehicle was first registered in any country. The new series began with the combination MAA 001, skipping the remaining Lxx combinations. Replacing old plates with new ones has been made mandatory for motorcycles, taxis and lorries.^[1] Taxi plates are yellow on both sides and rental car plates are red on both sides, but no longer carry the T and Z prefix, respectively.

Following Cyprus’ entry to the European Union in 2004, plates produced since have a blue band on the left edge with the Union’s circle and stars in the top half and the country’s international vehicle registration code CY in the bottom half and using German FE-Schrift as the typeface after 2013, replacing the DIN 1451 typeface previously in use as mandatory.

Style and numbering[edit]

Northern Cyprus civilian number plates still use the old format (1973–1990) of Cyprus number plates (AB 123).
Until 2018 front plates were white, rear plates yellow, both bordered in red. Two sizes are available: 300×150 mm or 520×110 mm.

From 2018 both front and rear number plates are white with embossed black letters and numbers, and a blue stripe on the left. The stripe must contain the stamp of the Motor Vehicles Registrar and the registration number of the number plate manufacturers. Number plates had to be changed before the end of January 2019.^[4]

The dimensions of Cyprus plates were similar to their British counterparts, and until 2004, characters were printed in black and in the same typeface as used on British plates. Plates from 2004 onwards are made of metal; between 1973 and 2004, they were made of plastic.

A new law on vehicle registration plates came into force on 3 June 2013, altering the design. Plates made before that date are white on the front of the vehicle and yellow on the rear, whereas new plates are white both on the front and the rear and, in addition, carry the month and year the vehicle was first registered in any country. The new series began with the combination MAA 001, skipping the remaining Lxx combinations. Replacing old plates with new ones has been made mandatory for motorcycles, taxis and lorries.^[1] Taxi plates are yellow on both sides and rental car plates are red on both sides, but no longer carry the T and Z prefix, respectively.

Following Cyprus’ entry to the European Union in 2004, plates produced since have a blue band on the left edge with the Union’s circle and stars in the top half and the country’s international vehicle registration code CY in the bottom half and using German FE-Schrift as the typeface after 2013, replacing the DIN 1451 typeface previously in use as mandatory.

The president’s car does not have a number on its plate, it displays the coat of arms of Cyprus instead.

Cypriot National Guard plates are composed of an old version of the Greek flag followed by the letters ΕΦ and up to five digits.

Northern Cyprus civilian number plates still use the old format (1973–1990) of Cyprus number plates (AB 123).
Until 2018 front plates were white, rear plates yellow, both bordered in red. Two sizes are available: 300×150 mm or 520×110 mm.

From 2018 both front and rear number plates are white with embossed black letters and numbers, and a blue stripe on the left. The stripe must contain the stamp of the Motor Vehicles Registrar and the registration number of the number plate manufacturers. Number plates had to be changed before the end of January 2019.^[4]

President

Previously, the presidential plate did not have a number, just the abbreviation of KKTCB (Turkish: Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti Başkanı).
This was changed in 2015, with the coat of arms being displayed in gold on a red plate.^[6]

The vehicle registration plates of Cyprus are composed of three letters and three digits (e.g. ABC 123). A simple incremental numbering system is used; numbers run from 001 to 999 per letter sequence (alphabetic), so that, for example, the plate to be issued after MAA 999 would be MAB 001. However, registrants may be allowed to choose a number from available numbers in the extant letter sequence.

Северный Кипр

Стиль и нумерация

Гражданские номерные знаки Северного Кипра по- прежнему используют старый формат (1973–1990) кипрских номерных знаков ( AB 123 ).
До 2018 года передние пластины были белыми, задние — желтыми с красной каймой. Доступны два размера: 300 × 150 мм или 520 × 110 мм.

С 2018 года передние и задние номерные знаки белые с тиснеными черными буквами и цифрами и синей полосой слева. Полоса должна содержать печать Регистратора автотранспортных средств и регистрационный номер производителей номерных знаков. Номерные знаки должны были быть заменены до конца января 2019 года. ^[4]
