Qatar Airways – перспективная авиакомпания, осуществляющая международные рейсы на всех континентах. Организация образовалась в ноябре 1993 года, и уже зимой 1994 года был совершен первый полет. К тому времени флот насчитывал пару-тройку самолетов, а численность работников составляла чуть более 70 человек. Все кардинально изменилось в ноябре 1996 года, когда на должность генерального директора «Катарских авиалиний» заступил Акбар аль-Бакер, бывший работник главного управления гражданской авиации Катара. Если в начале 90-х флот состоял из незначительного количества старых самолетов, то с приходом нового руководителя началась массовая закупка новых аппаратов.
Так, например, в 2007 году были приобретены восемьдесят самолетов Airbus A350 и более тридцати самолетов Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Также в нулевых появились новые маршруты, которые ранее ограничивались лишь двадцатью направлениями. Уже в начале 2005 года это число выросло до пятидесяти, а к концу года составило 70 маршрутов. Стоит отметить, что подобная модернизация положительно повлияла на движение пассажиров. Еще в 2002 году этот показатель был на уровне двух миллионов, но через пять лет число людей увеличилось почти в пять раз.
Флагманский перевозчик не ограничивается пассажирами, так как транспортировка грузов – явление пусть и не масштабное, но перспективное. В этом направлении с приходом нового генерального директора также отмечается положительная динамика. За пять лет грузопоток увеличился более чем в два раза. Отдел по перевозке грузов Qatar Airways Cargo представляет несколько отдельных услуг в данной сфере:
- доставку фруктов;
- доставку фармацевтических средств;
- ускоренную доставку грузов;
- чартерные перевозки грузов;
- доставку животных.
В настоящее время «Катарские авиалинии» – это успешная компания, которая продолжает развиваться. Более 230 единиц техники, 43 тысячи сотрудников, высокий уровень обслуживания на борту и собственная бонусная программа. Салоны самолетов оснащены спутниковым телевидением, индивидуальными системами развлечения и раскладывающимися креслами.
